Hi,

Need help to decide between WebLogic & JBoss. Actually I am new to both these product & dont know much about both.

If anyone can explain me when should I go for WebLogic or when should I go for JBoss (apart from Money considerations) ?? and

what all benefits do I get after spending so much on WebLogic which are not there in JBoss i.e. is it worth it to spend or not when I JBoss already which is free to use ??

Please explain me the reasons for moving towards any of the product with out considering "depends upon your applications only"

thanks
Vikas

Yes JBOSS is free open source software, but as they say there are "no free lunches". You have to consider the support for this product - and it may cost more to find a JBoss administrator / developer than a Weblogic one. Of course it does depend on your service level agreements (or disagreements!) and application.

I've found the "No one ever got sacked for buying Microsoft (or IBM - if your an oldie) to be true. Most companies tend to go with large established products for support and safety. I'm not saying this is good or bad - just the way things seem to be. Kind of mirrors the Linux / Windows argument.

Anyway - what size is your application? Any SLA's to external / internal customers? Is it mission critical?

Applications are mostly web portals & but issue is that I have to migrate from open source to some industry followed stardards which can help me give faster, better, scalable applications & results.

What should be my choice ....?
