Hi, I need a push in the right direction. I have my Web application deployed on a Jboss server. I need my application to carry out some transactions based on the time set in my database. For example: In my database i set a date 1st October 2006, to make some online payments. I am not really sure how to make this happen. I am told I could write an MBean to help me do this.

I need advice, am i on the right track. If yes, a tip on how best to achieve my objective will be apreciated. If I am not on track... kindly give me a push in the right direction.

You may use a scheduler for this. Quartz is one such open source scheduler which you can use. Here are the tutorials for the same:

Also, there's a Timer Service MBean in JBoss which you may use. Here's the link for the same:
