Hi,

I have cleared SCBCD with 88% at the age of 13 Years and 3 Months. This probably makes me Youngest Sun Certified Business Component Developer.

I have already cleared SCJP and SCWCD before and am also Youngest to clear those exams.

I prepared for about a month and read HFEJB twice, read specs and did mock exams of JDiscuss and Enthuware. For all the mock tests that I did I consistently got score above 80%.

I must really thank Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates for wonderful books on Sun certification. The concepts are explained so well that I did not find any difficulty understanding them.

Hi Nilesh,

Thank you very much for your appreciation.

For preparation time you would need about 3-4 months study. Hanumant Deshmukh book has lot of mistakes. It is very important for you to procure HFSJ. You may have to go through this book atleast 3 times. First time read through, second time thorough reading and making notes, third time revision. Also, you need to go through specs. That is very important.

Once you are through with this then you need to some mock exams.

In short that is how you need to proceed.

Hello,

I am planning to appear for OCA and OCP 10G. I have done the course with NIIT. I have material for this from Oracle. Can anyone guide me the strategy to adopt for this exam. Is this material sufficient or I need to get some book.

Is there any place where I can get mock exams.

Also, is there any forum dedicated to OCA and OCP exam of Oracle.

Thanks and regards,

Dear Mr.Ayondeep & Mr.Dinesh,

Thanks for your appreciation.

Sure there are lot of exams available on net to test skills. But, exams like Sun Certification are standard exams where you really get to test yourself very well. Preparing for the SCJP and SCWCD exam was quite different from preparing for my school exam. My parents guided me through every step although they do not know much about Java. They told me that my exam preparation strategy now is almost as if I am preparing for some competitive exam. I think that is very important since today everything has become so much competitive.

Secondly, I also want to get some experience on real life projects. In the forthcoming Summer Vacations I am planning to work on something like that. If you have anything in mind please do let me know.

For $150 well my parents and I think that this is an investment for which I will reap fruits some point in my life.

I really appreciate you on this. Keep up this good work and try to do lot more innovative things apart from writing certifications exams.

What do you want to become in your life? why did you do this certification? Share your thoughts with all of us.

Thanks,
Jitender.

Thank you very much Mr.Jitender for your kind encouragement. As I have mentioned in my previous mails. Computers are my passion. I want to do Computer Engineering at Stanford or MIT.

For Certification, actually it started with my interest in playing Computer Games. I got to know that Java is used in making Computer Games. I got Java How to Program by Deitel. I really got very interested in Java programming. I really liked program of "Towers of Hanoi". To test myself and to get more confidence I appeared for SCJP. I cleared the same. To further my knowledge I went in for SCWCD. I cleared. This certification is giving me lot of confidence as I have to study on my own. I only have books, internet that's it. I stay in Lagos, Nigeria where it is not easy to get so much help on this. It helps me in improving my capability of understanding technical things.

Can you please guide me how to get real life experience. I am really interested in that. I am planning to go to US for summer vacations starting in May.

Hi Niraj,

For time to complete the course for SCWCD. I feel if you put in about 4 Months you will be able to prepare yourself appear for this exam. But, you need to thoroughly read HFSJ and understand each and every point very well. YOu may seek help if you are not able to understand any particular point. Please also do make notes when you are reading. It is also very important that you should read specs and API as mentioned by me earlier. This will help you to understand thoroughly the subject. Very Important you should read the exam objectives and accordingly prepare yourself and read specs and API based on this. After you are through with your preparation it is very important to do mocks as it help you to evaluate yourself where you stand and gives lot of confidence. for e.g. after I did mocks I realised that I was weak in Design Patterns. Therefore for that I searched various sources and realised that I need to read Sun's notes and Hanumant Deshmukh for this topic. Above everything be a regular visitor at ranch. It will help you a lot.
