Open Source Java Developers/Consultants Needed (Boston, MA)


Our client, Optaros, www.optaros.com, is focused on helping large enterprises take advantage of Open Source Software (OSS). They have a team of Subject Matter Experts in a variety of Open Source Solutions. Practice areas include:

Content Management and Collaboration
eLearning and Training
Customer Relationship Management
Identity Management
Application Infrastructure
We are looking for talented Senior Software Developers to join the Practice. We are looking for people that have backgrounds and interest in Java development with tools like Spring and Hibernate, a connection to the Open Source community and strong writing skills.

Required Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

Ideal Technical Skills: 2-5 years of extensive design, development and deployment experience on multiple enterprise platforms. (J2EE design patterns, Hibernate, Spring, PHP/Perl/Python)


Software Design & Development
A thorough understanding of OOAD methodologies, OO design patterns, and popular open source J2EE tools and frameworks
Solid understanding of web application MVC architecture (Struts or similar framework
Strong experience in at least one industry leading database and on a leading edge application server
Experience developing J2EE server-side applications

Client interaction:

Ability to gather client requirements and write documentation
Ability to design or optimize user interfaces for usability
Ability to use rapid protyping techniques to collect user requirements
Experience using professional concepts to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
Ability to exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

Travel:

The variety of projects, team and client interaction will allow you to build strong leading edge technical skills as well as solid business acumen and consulting expertise. Work is done at both the client location as well as the corporate offices. Each client engagement provides a new challenge for leveraging Open Source Solutions and a chance to tackle challenging problems with new clients in a new location. When traveling, our consultants typically travel as part of a team. This is different from the product consulting model as many times a product services consultant will be traveling on his/her own to the client site.

Although the actual time our consultants have had to travel falls below 50%, we ask that all our consultants be willing to travel up to 50% of time, while we grow our business. Travel is managed on a project by project basis and we do our best to accommodate the need and interests of our consultants in our staffing model.
