which company's certificate has that best paper quality?
the certificate's look, feel, colours etc...

Simple....
The one that my current employer requires, or potential employer likes the most has the best of everything certs have to offer

The Kellogg corporation was founded by a man who walked the line between progressive and whacko....He instituted the 6 hour work day back at the start of the company.
Kellog killed it an started working 8 hour days sometime in the late 1990's....

My turn on the vanity wall
I just got 77% on SCJP 1.4.
Not as high as I'd like. I handled threads readily enough, but got bushwacked by GC and Collections.
I think I got more milage out of careful parsing of code rather than memorization. Be sure to missing braces, static trying to access non-static, and other such idiot's delights.
Kathy & Bert - your book was a godsend! Thanks!

Let me get this straight:
The new company is offering NO incentive (either $$$ or new tech experience)
This means they are asking you to sacrifice your seniority with your current employer, as well as any valuable/hard-to-replace business knowledge you may have.
Do you have or want ownership in the startup?
How is each company doing financially? Are their customers paying their bills? How's the stock doing on the larger company?
Has either company had layoffs in the past 3 years?
If I had a good job at a company doing work I liked, I could care less if I was physically at the building.
Tread carefully! Bird-in-hand and all that.

I've always wanted to ask this question...Does FoxNews support the Republicans/Bush???

No more than AOL TimeWarner supports anti-Bush/Democrats, but they seem to be more subtle about it than FOX. You can look at it by the stories that Fox leads with vs. CNN's lead stories.
Likewise, fluff pieces for CNN and Time have been France-positive and concilliatory. Doubt you'll see that on FOX.

While outsourcing is not helping the IT job market, I can't help but think of similar predictions. 2+ years ago, it was "Demand for IT workers will exceed supply for at least 5 years". Before then (80's) , it was "Japan is taking all our jobs, how will we survive?"
I think most of these articles are self-servicing for their publishers, to boost sales. Take them with large grain of salt.

The expression "A" + "B" is invariant, so the compiler will concat and get "AB", which already exists in the string pool.

Java Object class is parent for any object.
All other classes derive from Object.
Adding wait(), notify() and notifyAll() at this low level in the inheiritance tree allows any object to be used as a concurrency lock.
Putting this support only in class Thread wouldn't be nearly as flexible.

Computerjobs.com and Dice.com also play timestamp games. Amazing how most everything that was new yesterday is new today as well.
Even so, I've gotten real responses back from openings posted on both of these sites.
Not lately, Tho.

As I understand it, Flipdog has spiders wandering the web and marks pages for collection that have job openings/descriptions. I'm convinced they're cashing those pages and not reviewing them well. I've seen jobs listed under Flipdog pages with a timestamp less than a week old, and followed links to the original page -- which has an "last updated" of 2001.
Don't waste any more time with them.

For resolving method calls:
Overloading methods are determined using the compile -time reference type.
Overriding methods are determined using the run-time type of the object the reference points to.
In this case, the method is overloaded, reference q4 is of type Test, and 10 can be implicitly upcast from int to float.

You cannot get access to the article without joining a list group.
Any other way of seeing this? I've already got enough mail.

It's not whether we win or lose, its how we play the game after the war.
Businesses and investors hate uncertainty. There was little question that, once committed, the US would topple Iraq's government. The next questions are :
1) How much will Iraq's reconstruction cost, and how will that affect the U.S. economy?
2) How much damage has been done to international business due to alliance schisms, and the resulting economic repercussions?
3) Will there be disruptions due to retaliatory terrorist attacks on the US?
Until corporations feel comfortable again with capital investment and business expansion, and start loosening their purse strings, the unemployment numbers won't change much.
It's much larger than a single President and tax cuts.

From what I remember, outsourcing IT was a trend in the early 90's (91-93?). At the time, I was contracting for the DoD, so it wasn't high on my radar. Outsourcing for other business functions has been around for decades, though. Payroll, for example - does your company actually print/issue its own paychecks, or do they use ADP or Ceridian?
Ultimately, outsourcing (IT or otherwise) depends on how crucial the outsouceable work is to the corporation, and how comfortable they are in surrendering complete control of it.
If it is a task requiring commodity knowledge that isn't closely related to a corporation's business (Payroll, Accounting, software development) and the contract house can provide the service more cheaply than the corporation can do for itself, then contracted resources can be used so the company can focus on what it does best - manufacture cars, provide health care, etc.
As mentioned in other posts, companies will keep mission critical projects close to home where they can have more control.
