Got the Voucher Today
Thanks Giri...
Now upto some real Hardwork
Hi Leo,
I don't know any webpage that has a electronic version of Professional XML...Shall update u if I find any...In the meantime ,have u checked out used books in Amazon. They do international shipping. I am assuming that u r not getting these books in ur country.THe link to the used books of Professional XML is
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/offering/list/-/1861005059/all/ref=dp_bb_a/102-8865031-8966515
These books can also be found in half.com for very reasonable prices in Half.com
http://half.ebay.com/cat/buy/prod.cgi?cpid=1055989435&domain_id=1856&meta_id=1
Hope this is helpful.Confirm with the seller that they allow International shipping...and read the ratings of the seller...Some people have bad experience from certain sellers...Do the research and buy at ur own risk :-)
Hi ,
Thanks a lot, Valentin Crettaz. The info was of great help.
Manish, as already said it was part of promotion campaign by IBM in December,2002. We are supposed to take the sample test by IBM. The first 1000 to qualify were given a voucher number which could be provided at any of the prometric centers while registration.
I was informed of the offer thru this forum. So keep a regular watch :-)
Good luck.
Hi,
I would like to know as to where I could take up the XML exam in chennai. I have a free voucher. So I need to take the exam before 31st of march.
Thanks,
Archana
Yep...Nutshell is more like a reference.THe best place to get the confidence to go ahead with the preparation is W3Schools. Then ofcourse we could go ahead with the Skonard's book.
Best of luck for ur preparation.
Congratulations...Great Score...How long did it take....I mean the actual preparation ???
Cheers
Archana
I have been planning to take up the exams by March 31st (Voucher expires then) but I find my initial enthu vanishing off. How do you all keep the pace on.Please advice.
Where do I start in terms of actual patcise (tools and stuff like that) ? I read a lot of theory stuff. I read a bit of Quick refererence and Professional XML.I think it would help if someone could give me a reliable set of ide,apps to start off with.
Thanks for any help.
Hi,
Thanks for all ur responses.
I tried using
DataSource ds = (DataSource) ctx.lookup("jdbc/TestCoreDS");
And I get the following error...
Entering hijdbc/Test connection I am here before Stmt java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
in my browser when I run the servlet.
As far as connection pooling goes. I am yet to read up on them.
Thanks,
Archana

Thanks for ur reply.
Actually that is exactly what I meant. I am trying to use JDBC in my servlet.I am giving the code

My orion data-sources.xml
<data-source
class="com.evermind.sql.DriverManagerDataSource"
name="Test data-source"
location="jdbc/TestCoreDS"
xa-location="jdbc/xa/TestXADS"
ejb-location="jdbc/Test"
connection-driver="sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver"
username=""
password=""
url="jdbc dbc:test.mdb"
schema="database-schemas/ms-access.xml"
inactivity-timeout="30">
</data-source>
But it gives me data not found error...I am going crazy. Can u help. The docs don't help. I am thinking of uninstalling orion.'coz Tomcat seems to have better docs.
What is ur suggestion.
Archana
