Are there plans for creating faq's for some of the topics that seem to occur over and over. The one I see is how to download, install, complile and execute programs using the SDK.

Yes,
In fact currently underway is a huge undertaking to provide just that. Quite a few of the Bartenders and Sheriffs are working on an XSL solution using Cocoon. That way we can create FAQ's as we deem appropriate with minimal work to maintain.
