Think about why you would use an OO language instead of C or Fortran. What do you hope to gain? You'll have to understand those principles to actually realize the benefits. If you found that question hard to answer, you probably need a pretty solid introduction to the principles to fully know what the benefits can be. Go for the training. It might change your life. Well, your work anyway.
