Hi all, I'm looking for a good UML editor. I can't seem to find any comparisons on the web of what there is out there. I've tried Together J(the free whiteboard edition) and like it, but it costs about $2500 US for the full version! Just a bit much for me! If anyone has any ideas of some good, lesser expensive UML editors out there, I would appreciate any info. Any links to online comparisons would be great! Thanks you muchly, Mark Waschkowski PS. I use JCreater as my IDE. I like it very much, and its free. http://www.jcreator.com/

www.metamill.com does a good job as a "UML notepad" for under $100. I use it to sketch ideas for new code and redesign, and to capture what I learn as I read code that I maintain. It works well enough for class diagrams, which are what I use the most for this activity, and was very easy to pick up and use. The results paste well into other documents as RTF. It does other diagram types, but I've had less need for them since I got it. I've not tried the "reverse engineering" features. There is an evaluation version. www.sparxsystems.com.au has something that looks very impressive for just a few hundred dollars, as I recall.

You should give it a try to use Eclipse http://www.eclipse.org as IDE. It allows to seemless integrate different UML editors. Omondo's EclipseUML http://www.omondo.com/ is one which integrates good in the Eclipse IDE. [ October 28, 2003: Message edited by: Markus Nolte ]
