How to make VisualAge faster?

I have been working on VisualAge for a while. Now, it really pisses me off.
Before, I only worked on my part and VisualAge was ok. After I merged the team work together, it crashes all the time and takes long time to save.
I compace the repository once a week and make the repository file less than 400MB. But, it always takes 1 hour and 55 minutes or longer to save the workspace.
Does anybody know how to make VisualAge faster?

I think the only way to make Visual Age run faster is deploying it into a mainframe. It's really slow, and dont try to run/debug servlets because it will become a turtle... trust me, I worked last year in a Visual Age project and was very dissapointed with the speed...

Please read JavaRanch's naming policy and consider re-registering with a name that follows the policy's format.

The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen all at once.

The one thing I don't understand is that after I created version for all projects, packages and classes, it takes longer to save the workspace than they were open edition. My understanding is that you have to create opened edition to make change because you can't make changes on version classes. Damn VisualAge should know there's nothing changed if everything is version there.

Thanks Fred,
I did call them but the answer was that I have to wait the next version of VisualAge. I'm gonna try to get the patch.
Thanks for the information again.
