Forget about XDE. When the Rational guys came in and demo this, it was a copy cat of TogetherSoft. Grab TogetherSoft. It's more cost effective and richer in features.

I think that rational guys have made the use of this IDE very complicated.
You need to connecte to internet every time you start using this IDE. I think any time investment to learn this IDE is just waste.
If you care for open source and inclined towards IBM, Eclipse is the right choice for you.
IBM has donated the core of the web sphere studio to open source. The cost of this to IBM was 40 $ Million.
Apart from all this, there are various plug-ins available to plug in to this IDE. For example Tomcat can plug in to IDE for serverlets and JSPs.

Rajul, Rational XDE is an Eclipse plugin, too!

XDE does not give you the code metric and audits
that you find with TogetherSoft. I have heard
rumors of available plugins that give you this
functionality but I have been unable to confirm
or deny that they exist.

Rational XDE connects to the internet only when you use the demo mode. I bought the Rational XDE now and it is great. It no longer connects to internet. It is really intuitive when you get use to the eclipse paradigm. I think Rational has done a great job.
I really think TogetherSoft is a great product as well. But it does not integrate with the WSAD. They will integrate when WSAD hits version 5.0 I believe. Definitely a product to keep a eye on.
