No, I don't think 64 meg is enough for JB8, or most other IDE's for that matter.

jb is not only slow ,but much error. My pc is 256MB + XP1800+ ,win2000
even with JBuilder 5 you needed 128mb ram minimum. I am unfortunutly stuck using JB 3 due to this slight problem! Much easier to use the JDK - if you can ever get the thing configured!

If you don't have much memory try Gel from gexperts.com. I think it's got a v small memory footprint as it is natively compiled windows code rather than an IDE with a Java GUI.

JBuilder have the reputation of memory hawker, but it is more robust than most. It is fairly easy configured than some. I think the reason people use the latest JBuilder because it is started to enter the database integration. But then, you have to cough out money for that.

I just installed 1GB of RAM on my Athlon 2000+ system, and now JBuilder is much nicer to use, compared to when I had a mere 256 MB of RAM. When I was running 256MB, it was OK, but it was slow at times - especially when loading a new feature - and there was a whole lot of disk cache swapping going on when switching back and forth between JBuilder and other applications. Also, at 350 MHZ with a PII, even with lots of RAM, JBuilder might still be awfully slow.
