I read about the JBossIDE on www.jboss.org but I could not find it on their download page.
Has anyone tried it out? Does it work?

Check out http://www.manjug.org/DefaultJun03.html for JBoss IDE Eclipse instructions and plugin. You should go thru the tutorial to build a simple EJB app to see how to modify the xdoclet and build.xml files.
