Which essential plugins?

I am preparing for my Java Programmer Cert. While I want am eager to experiment, I dont' want to get too distracted while I am supposed to be studying! Could someone suggest the most basic download to simply code, compile, debug and run simple exercises? I am new to Eclipse.
