Hi Joe,
I am very new to Eclipse. Our company just switch almost everything to open source recently. JBuilder->Eclipse, source control tool->cvs, focus on Tomcat as application server, use MySql as db. Lots of catchup work to do. Only plugins I have done so far is download sysdeo for tomcat and it is quite simple. Hope your book can cover those grounds we need.
Thanks,
Kevin Cao

Hi Kevin!
My book is an excellent way to get accomplished with all the basic features of Eclipse and the Java Development Tooling (JDT) plug-in that comes as part of the base package. Once you've gone through the book, you will understand everything you need to know about writing and runing real business applications in Eclipse.
It's not a tutorial on plug-ins, or an explanation of web development. What it is, is a clear, easy-to-follow introduction to all the basic workings of Eclipse, from the familiar ones like menus and toolbars to the unique Eclipse concepts like perspectives. Once you've finished the book, you will be able to statr moving on to other topics.
We're considering a follow-on book; in fact several follow-on titles are in the initial research stages. We'd love to get some feedback as to what else people need in introductory material. The other two books currently available are wonderful reference guides, but I like to write what are in effect self-paced hands-on labs, and I think we did a great job with Eclipe: Step by Step. People who have read the book seem to agree, and I'm looking forward to hearing more from the readers!
