Is it possible to write a plugin utilizing EMF that allows true roundtrip engineering using Eclipse? I mean the tool in which no matter if you are editing class diagram or code itself - everything in kept in sync all the time.

Michal, this is pretty close to true with EMF. Take a look at chapter 2 and Omondo's EclipseUML to see what's possible. Frank.
