Model Driven Architectures is still a buzzword - does Eclipse use MDA in any form ? I have just come across this, which is MDA and Eclipse enabled. Design Pattern Toolkit Are you sure there's more room for more plug-in development ? regards [ November 13, 2003: Message edited by: HS Thomas ]

Do you mean, "has MDA been used for generating the Eclipse source code?"
Are you sure there's more room for more plug-in development ?
As long as you as a developer get those "someone should write a..." feelings, there is more room. Don't you get those feelings? I do.

Yes, to the first. To the second, only if it's generally agreed to be beneficial to the team's work ; My own work, sometimes.(Don't want to look as though I'm enjoying it too much, (joke) ) Sigh. The things I've had to type out long hand and they wouldn't let us make a plug-in. Can a plug-in make work less interesting ? With open source developer community support it's a bit difficult to hold back the enthusiasm but unless you are actually experiencing that glee it could be a mute point. Still I wouldn't want Eclipse to be taken away. I think the next developers will begin to take Eclipse for granted. regards

I've witnessed several occasions where a fellow developer in a new project is evidently relieved of the fact that I'm using Eclipse. "Boy, I'm glad you're using Eclipse too!" is not an odd phrase...

If you are interested in MDA then you might want to check out the Eclipse Modeling Framework EMF. --erich
