The City and County of Denver is seeking a Senior Information Technology Developer (Java) for a leadership role in the City's Wastewater Management Division. The developer will perform professional systems analysis and programming work to maintain, customize, and enhance the City's Wastewater Management Division IT systems. Preferred experience includes 10 years programming experience with a minimum of five years Java programming, including Swing, AWT, JSP, Servlets, JMS, JMX and JDBC. Must have demonstrated working knowledge of Agile software development processes such as Extreme Programming (XP) or SCRUM. The successful candidate is expected to understand and actively apply Test First Design by writing unit tests (i.e. JUnit and HTTPUnit), and automating the testing and build processes using Ant from the Apache Jakarta Project. We are looking for an individual who has at least two (2) years experience mentoring others in these processes and experience teaching Object Orientation or as a team lead in an Object Oriented development team. The successful candidate should also have experience with Jboss and Tomcat running on Linux or Unix servers and experience writing stand alone SQL queries or with SQL query tools such as TOAD. Prior experience using Oracle (or other Ansi SQL-92 compliant database such as SQL Server, MySQL or DB2) on a Linux, Unix or AIX operating system will be extremely helpful. Minimum Qualifications are: A Baccalaureate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Mathematics or a related field, and three (3) years of professional Information Technology experience in full life cycle development of business applications and Java Programming experience including Swing, AWT, JSP, Java Servlets, _Javascript and Java Database Connectivity (JDBC). Additional experience with full-life cycle development of business applications will equal the education experience on a one-year to one- year basis. Direct hires only.
