This quote is from the Oracle9i JDeveloper (9.0.3) JDeveloper Online Help.

Configuring JDeveloper to Use CVS
To use CVS with JDeveloper you must have the following:

CVS client installed on the same machine as JDeveloper
the location of the CVS executable in your path.
To configure JDeveloper to use CVS:
In JDeveloper choose Tools | Preferences to display the Preferences dialog, and select Source Control in the left pane.
On the Source Control Options preferences page, select Concurrent Versions Systems (CVS) 1.10 from the Active System list.
Make sure that Save changes silently before performing source control operations is checked.
Select CVS in the left pane and choose options on the CVS Options page as you require.
Click OK to close the Preferences dialog.

Note. You connect to the CVS repository through the Connection wizard, which you can open from within the Navigator by opening Connections, CVS Server, then clicking the right mouse button and choosing New Connection.

You log into CVS by choosing File | Source Control | Log In and enter your password in the dialog that is displayed.

Im using JDeveloper 10.1.2.
Im sucessfull getting CVS connection, if i connect JDEV to CVS when both are on the same machine A. Im using Windows XP Professional.

When Im are trying to connect the Jdev in machine B to the CVS Repository on machine A, the problem exists.

Its a multiple developer environment and need to work on the same workspace which is now in CVS in machine A.

While creating the connection, we specified the HostName,
UserName and CVS repository folder.

I had tried with server, External, Pserver.

While Test Connection , im getting

Testing connection...
warning: unrecognized response `'ssh' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
RSH failed - did not respond.
Connection test failed: unable to connect.

If i check both ssh and rsh and try to connect again getting

Testing connection...
Connection test failed: unable to connect.

So what is the setting i need to provide in JDev and in CVS Server
to get the connection.

Please get back to me.

Try connecting to CVS from the command line (of the remote machine.) This will tell you whether the problem is in JDevelop configuration or CVS configuration. A common reason in CVS configuration is that a firewall has the port blocked.
