jPanel switch in Netbeans

I'm new to Netbeans and am trying to create a UI which will display different jPanels depending on a button selection. I've been playing with making one visible and one not, which partially works. I can make one of the jPanels disappear/re-appear but not the other jPanel which has identicle settings. Any idea's...

Also as i guess this is pretty basic stuff are there any decent tutorials on creating GUI's in Netbeans, as would much prefer to do it that way then bug people on forums.
