Eclipse, missing javax.servlet...

I'm trying to return to Java after many years developing web applications in other languages. Last time I used Java was in school on simple projects about 7 years ago.

I'm currently evaluating/learning a series of Java-related technologies and tools: Eclipse, JSP/JSF, Struts, Hibernate, iBATIS, Tomcat, etc. I've gotten Eclipse/Tomcat/Sysdeo plugin etc all working and have coded some very simple JSPs. I've also gotten Tiles to work. Im working under Mac OS X (10.3) if that makes a difference.

Now I'm trying to start my first custom tag but the compiler/Eclipse is complaining that the required superclass javax.servlet.jsp.tagext.SimpleTagSupport can't be found. Trying to explore down the package tree shows that javax.servlet can not be found.

Can anyone offer any advice about what I need to do?

Thank you.

Download and install J2EE (1.3 or 1.4 depending on whether you use Tomcat 4 or 5) and include j2ee.jar and the jstl jars in your project.
You may also use servlet.jar and the jstl jars from Tomcat (but the full package comes with documentation which you will want).

I agree. Here's the link:
