As of now I have checked my classpath and added the jars for xerces 2.6.2. I have tried a stand alone java program that uses a dom parser and that works so I know that the xml jars can be found but eclipse just won't run. I had eclipse running with java version 1.4.2 but I need to go down to version 1.3.1.

Can anyone help me make eclipse 3.0 run with java 1.3.1_15

Thanks

Gamb,
Eclipse requires Java 1.4. This doesn't prevent you from running your programs or everything else on the machine in 1.3 through. You just have to place the path of Java 1.4 as a parameter in your Eclipse shortcut. For example:

For a program, set the JVM in Eclipse preferences. For everything outside the IDE (like a database or other program), set the PATH environment variable.
