Hi.
I have a strange question !
When you want to download eclipse, you choose a format that is compatible with your system, windows, linux, solaris, mac os x (zip, gzip .....).
In the essense, do these versions deffer ?
I mean, does windows's version of eclipse (for example) has files, dirs and extra jars that are defferent than linux's version of eclipse ?
Can I copy the extracted zip file of eclipse on windows to linux's drive and runs normally on Linux ??
Any ideas ??

I think it has got to do with the way Eclipse is packaged. I downloaded Eclipse as windows executable (.exe) which obviously would not install on linux/unix et al.

Doesnt the same hold true for other packages like Apache Tomcat etc???
you choose an installation based on the OS you are running.

I have downloaded Window's copy of eclipse in the past.
AFAIR (R == remember), bin dir contains a shell script for linux ....
Any feedbacks ?
