I just got Java 1.5.0 on a mac os 10.3.9 (see http://www.javaranch.com)and netbeans is still 1.4

How do I get it to load 1.5.0

which version of Netbeans you are using? The Netbeans 5.0 and the upcomming 5.5 (still in beta 2 -- http://www.netbeans.info/downloads/download.php?type=5.5b2 -- , you can download it though) support Java 5.
You can configure and load the Java 5 as your default library for your project:
right click on the project name, than choose properties, than libraries, than manage platforms, than add platform than choose the directory where you install your JDK and in the end choose it as default.

Another alternative: use other IDEs like Eclipse.

I tried Eclipse and I dont understand it, Im used to netbeans so I want it to work.
I got the bata and I get an error, how do I fix it?
