Java Developer and Team Leader � Calgary
Our client is expanding their development team. If you are recognized as a strong senior (expert) level Java application developer, as well as a team leader, we are interested in hearing from you.
Role & Responsibilities:
As member and leader of the Development Team, you will be responsible for application development and maintenance of service offerings. Duties include:
�Analyze, design, architect, program,
test, debug, QA, and support a web-based Java application
�Development of supporting database schemas
�Interaction with users periodically for system requirements and/or enhancements
�Rework and improve production code toward service goals
�Generate accurate plans and estimates for development efforts
�Design, unit-test, code, and document features of the application
�Direct and mentor other developers
�Work with Business Development and Client Care teams to refine and develop the product vision
Qualifications:
�Formal education with Engineering, Computer Science, or recognized technical degree
�10+ years of progressive development experience
�6+ years of demonstrable progressive Java development experience
�2+ years working with
JUnit �Superior problem solving capabilities are mandatory
�Development experience with sophisticated, database-driven web applications
�Broad experience with
Struts, Tiles,
JSP,
Applets,
Servlets, JavaScript, OOP, XML, SQL and Relational Databases is mandatory
�Experience with Linux, Apache,
Tomcat, DB2 is preferred
�Experience with TopLink Object/Relational mapping tool a definite plus
�Ideally have Certification as Sun Programmer or J2E Developer
�J2EE and Design
Patterns experience
�Tomcat, Hibernate, RDBMS, and SQL experience
�Ability to understand business requirements and turn them into solid design objects and implement
�Deliverables-oriented and able to work in a cooperative, managed environment
�Able to employ modern Agile development methodologies
�Experience developing Technical Architecture
�Ability to lead and mentor developers in an agile, extreme programming environment
�Excellent written and verbal communication skills
�Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer orientation
�Ability to stimulate cool ideas for enhancements and new service offerings
�Strong commitment to personal and team development
�Enjoy working in a collaborative team environment

The Position:
�Permanent full-time or contract (negotiable).
�Compensation package is flexible and competitive.
�Remuneration range commensurate with experience.
