Eclipse Europa on Vista

Eclipse 3.3 runs on Vista, but when I try and open a preference dialog, they vary between working correctly, missing some features, and being totally blank.
Has anyone encountered this and found a way around it? Is there something I don't know about Vista that I need to know to run eclipse properly?

I tried a beta release of Eclipse for Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), a new window system that comes pre-installed on Microsoft Windows Vista. It seems to be free of that issue, but isn't actually released yet, as far as I can tell. It seems flaky in other ways.
