Hi All,

I am using Eclipse 3.2/Tomcat 5.5.

I have all project with directory structure given to me in zip file.

I need to use this zip/unzipped file to create project and add it to tomcat server to run it.

I tried unzipping the file and creating project using Import as existing project and Import as File System. (I created dynamic web project first)

But when I right click to server-> Add Remove project, I could not find my project to be added.

Please help.

Thanks

In Eclipse, you can import a project directly from a ZIP file: select File / Import, then choose General / Existing Projects into Workspace. Then click Next, select "Select archive file" and click the Browse button to select your ZIP file. Then click Finish to import the project.

Note: If the ZIP file already contains an Eclipse project, you do not need to create a project manually first.

Have you defined your Tomcat installation as a server in Eclipse? Go to Window / Preferences, then select Server / Installed Runtimes. If your Tomcat is not yet defined as a server, click the Add button and add your Tomcat as a server.

If it still doesn't work, then check if the versions are correct. Was the project made for the same (or a compatible) version of Tomcat and Java as what you are using?

Note: Since this question is more about how Eclipse works than about Tomcat, I will move it to the IDE forum.

Thank you very much Jesper.

I created the project the way you mentioned using zip file.
I also created the server.

When I right click the server at server tab to Add/Remove project..I get message "There are no projects that can be added or removed from the server"

I tried creating new dynamic web project but I could not find the original web module to add...I can only see the web module from newly created dynamic web project.

Please help.

Thanks,

Ankur
