The most popular ones are CVS and subversion. There are some others as well, like Mercurial and git, but I don't remember offhand if they're as totally unencumbered as CVS and Subversion. Also they may not be as well supported in IDEs such as Eclipse.
An IDE is no substitute for an Intelligent Developer.
