Just learning j2ee and myeclipse (using eclipse 3.1 and myeclipse 4.1 as plug in). Created a EAR project (Demo) and this project has front end web "DemoWeb" and back end "DemoEJB" project as its reference. meanwhile "DemoWeb" has reference to "DemoEJB". For "Demo" project I used "Add or Remove Project deployment" and specify a server and specified "location" as "../.../../deploy/Demo" and picked "exploded" mode.

Everything looks fine. But when I clicked "redeploy" by highlighting the selected server and deploy location, I don't see any exploded files. In that "/deploy/Demo folder I only saw "META_INF" and "APP-INF" folders.

1. Should I specify a ".ear" in my deployment location, i.e shall I put

"../../../deploy/Demo/Demo.ear"

as deploy location ? Is there anything else wrong ?

2. everytime if I change any java code and rebuild it, do I need to click "add or remove project deployment" and then highlight server and then click "redeploy", is that necessary ? or do I just need to restart server ? what's the procedure ?
