Eclipse run slowly

Hi all,
I ran Eclipse 3.3.1.1 + glassfish V2 + Java DB on my desktop (a little bit old machine). I tested a small EJB 3.0 program, it ran so slow that I couldn't work at all. 
Can anybody know how to fasten the system (any tunning, configuration? or customize the IDE?) The desktop has only 256M physical memory now. Is that ok for running these stuffs? Thanks alot!

You should definitely invest in some RAM. I wouldn't go for anything less than 2 GB. More than 3 GB doesn't make sense if you happen to run a 32 bit Windows.
