*Description/Responsibilites: Develop/Create technical architecture and the longer term technical strategy. Performs some on-site client work on complex applications. May function as a team leader. Assumes project management responsibilities in supervisor's absence. This is a top level development position in the company. Incumbent possesses very high level of product knowledge and/or technical knowledge; is able to operate across multiple computer environments and platforms. Operates under minimal supervision
Position Responsibilities: A. Performs complex product design activities which may require extensive research and analysis: Performs design, development and maintenance of highly complex multiple product modules/subsystems. Participates in product design meetings. Establishes QA scope for project.
B. Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products: Researches problems, discovered by QA or product support, and develops solutions to the problems Conducts unit testing and integration testing for functionality and limits.
C. May assist in performing on-site client work on complex applications.
D. Defines the architecture used for each Product release: Design and develop in order to meet project objectives. Insures that complete and detailed system documentation is produced for each release.
E. Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. Researches new technology or development tools to remain abreast of current technology.
F. Defines the technical roadmap for the company. Determines what tools and techniques we will utilize to meet the current objectives and future objectives. Mentors all technical staff in the use of approved tools and design methodologies. Develops the technology based strategy, documents it and communicates it to the staff.
*Requirements: -Advanced degree usually at minimum of master's level in business applications areas or software design. -Extensive experience with architecting applications in JAVA, particularly in a FAT-client model. -Minimum of 10 years experience in product design and/or support environment. -Advanced technical knowledge in software design and development methodologies. -Experienced at developing technical designs for commercial grade products. -Excellent knowledge of procedural and object oriented programming languages. -Expert analytical and design skills at multi-product/multi-environment level. -In-depth experience in research and analysis, project planning and develop. -Excellent understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance. -Aware of business issues as they impact overall project plans. -Recognized reference and central point for technical issues across groups and products. -Recognized leadership role for less senior developers. -Strong communications and interpersonal skills. Advanced PC skills.
