I recently got a new account on a Solaris machine, and for some reason I get logged in the Open Windows Environment (which sucks). I'd like to change to the Common Desktop environment. Can anyone tell me how to do that? (cde command doesn't work in solaris 8.0)
Yeah, you can change it by putting a file called .xinitrc in your home directory. The line in .xinitrc should point to your other window manager. For example, if I had WindowMaker installed in /usr/local/windowmaker, my line in .xinitrc would read /usr/local/windowmaker/bin/wmaker. There are other ways to do it, but that seems to work for me.
