What is the Nautilus file manager? Red hat seems to be pushing it pretty hard. Is it all that great?

Nautilus is 'just' a GUI file manager under Gnome, kind of like surfing your directories using 'My Computer' in Windows. Under KDE, the Konqueror app does this. Konqueror is also a web browser. Should be multiple browsers installed: Netscape, Mozilla, Konqueror, yada yada ...... If you like old style stuff, open a xterm window and issue: mc This gets you the midnight commander, which is a rough clone of the 'norton commander' from DOS days. What is the difference between Gnome and Ximian Gnome? As I understand it, Ximian Gnome is a version of Gnome just as Netscape 6.2 is a version of Mozilla. Is that correct? Also, does Ximian Gnome compare favorably to Gnome and KDE? Is it more user friendly than Gnome/KDE to the novice user? Thanks, Reuben.
