Hi, I installed oracle8i on redhat 6.1. Somehow, database instances could not be installed properly without any reason. When I tried to run the server, it gave me this error: ORA -00600:internal error code, arguments: [3668], [1], [2], etc. I am wondering how I can fix this, or I just need to reinstall the whole thing? Thanks.

I've not had this problem, but I have had great luck with looking up other Oracle error codes. Oracle are nice enough to provide a prefix, so asking Google about "ORA 00600" should provide something useful. In this case the top hit was the following: http://www.oracle-error.com/ora-00600.htm which makes it sound pretty serious. If you have already paid for support from Oracle, use it, if not, I guess you could try a reinstall.

Hi, Installation of Oracle on linux need certain patches to be installed after the installation. The patches are found either together with the CD or downloadable from technet.oracle.com Have you done it? If you'd like to try a re-install to simplify things. This is an excellent link. http://www.oralinux.com/rh61-815.html Hope this helps. Han Ming
