I am trying to become a UNIX sysadmin for my company (very small) and I know enough Unix to do menial tasks, but I would really appreciate it if someone could point me in the direction of a good online tutorial that really teaches one how to become an effective system administrator.
Systems administration isn't really a how-to kind of job, as I see it. You can learn to execute various tasks, and you can assemble the skills behind maintaining scripts and keeping the OS happy and healthy, but most systems administrations jobs involve maintain process, dealing with change, managing integration of new features. I can't think of a single site devoted to admins that tells you how to do the job; they tell you how to solve problems of one kind or another, but that's as good as it gets. The rest is experience. Take a look at stokely.com or sunguru.com to get an idea of what I mean.
