Team,
I have just installed redhat 7.3 with dual boot with win2k. I must say that the redhat installation was a piece of cake.
The cable modem installation on win2k was a piece of cake also however since I am a complete newbie on linux i have not been able to install the cable modem in linux. Hence i cannot get to the net from linux.
I have an RCA USB Cable modem(DCM 235) and COMCAST.
Any help/direction/suggestion etc is welcome.
Regards
Suchak.

USB cable modems are definately trickier than the ethernet ones. I'd always recommend an ethernet cable modem given the choice, but that doesn't help you right now
I know some people have got some models working, so it can probably be done. Have you done a google search for "linux usb cable modem" or for "linux" and your actual cable modem model number ?

Apparanly the RCA cable modem has a ethernet port.
So i bought a seimens network card, a network cat 6 cable and i am able to have internet working with win2k.
I will try with linux next and see what happens.

Yes frank,
I mean it just happened after your answer.
It provoked me to see it the network card way and not the USB way.
Things just worked out nice, just like you explained.
Thank you so much.
