I've installed linux(mandrake) without the lilo. Now I need to dual boot it with Windows XP. Are there any ways to do it? I stuffed it up last up, and had to reformat the whole HDD, so please provide precise answer. Are there any tools or methods to make it work? Thanks.

It is easier to install Windows first and then Linux as doing it the other way around will trash your Linux install. Good Luck

There's a LILO-HOWTO out there that walks through the process in both ways and also covers variables such as more than 3 OS and combinations of OS's. (I don't hava link but it shouldn't be too hard) From memory the only trick is to get LILO started, do an initial install of the windows OS, when win needs to reboot, reboot into Linux and set it up as another boot partition in LILO, then restart. Second time around you boot into windows and complete the installation. I did it a few months ago with RedHat 7.1 and win2k, but I had to make the changes to LILO by hand. Dave
