installing eclipse

I have installed eclipse in /usr/eclipse dir and I have the following line in my .bash_profile. But when I type eclipse or ./eclipse I get an error saying

and

respectively.

The following line is in my .bash_profile file.

I am not sure if this is relevant...but if you are running an AMD64, Eclipse supposedly will not work...

Something else...it appears that some people are having to run Eclipse from with its own directory...

Just running ./eclipse won't work, because it looks in your current location for eclipse, so you must first make sure you are in eclipse's installation directory.

I am not running AMD 64. but if I go to /usr/eclipse and type eclipse then it does work.

i installed eclipse successfully, but when starting it up it keeps saying it cannot find the JRE..

I installed the J2SDK1.4.2_06 in the /usr directory too, is this yet another path issue?

path, and probably JAVA_HOME variable:
