Linux(Java Installation)

I had downloaded jre1.5.0_06 version and installed it into /usr/java folder with root permissions.

After that i had set PATH variable like following.

But still when giving java on the command prompt it's giving error command not found.

Can you tell me what else need to be done ?.

Yes, PATH=$PATH:/usr/java/jre1.5.0_06/bin

Also put that info in your .profile or .bash_profile
