The ideal candidate for the Java - J2EE Architect position will meet all of the following criteria:
1. The Java Architect works as a consulting team member conducting complex software / technology research leading to new or improved software architectures and products in order to improve the company�s competitive position and profitability.
2. The J2EE Architect provides architectural and 'big picture' oversight for development of new or enhanced software applications, systems, and/or products, and provides technical advice to software development teams and customers.
3. The J2EE Architect's expertise and work efforts focus primarily on the implementation of proprietary software products and/or the development of custom software solutions. Duties are usually performed at the company�s facilities in the context of a software development project team.
4. The J2EE Architect works with other architects, various software developers, project and/or product managers, and customer application experts to architect and design software products containing required features and functionality. The Java Architect may be responsible for integrating components built by software product developers.
Core Qualifications � Minimum of 5 years experience working in the role of a software/technical architect within a technology consulting firm, or within an Information Technology organization in a mid-to-large size corporation. � Experience in large scale, distributed software applications / systems operating in a secure environment. � Experience with software architecture and development that utilizes large-scale distributed middleware packages including CORBA, J2EE applications servers, distributed application brokers, and transaction managers/monitors. � Experience developing software applications/products for technology-based industries such as the Telecommunications and Software industries. � Experience with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Enterprise Service Bus architectures. � Experience in designing highly-reliable software applications. � Experience with large scale databases and database products such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, etc. � Experience developing software applications in languages such as Java, C++, C, or C#. � Experience in analyzing and modeling applications, systems, and components using methodologies such as Rational Unified Process, Agile Development, etc. � Experience with Agile Methodology or Extreme Programming. � Knowledge of networking technologies including data encryption, data compression, and voice over IP (VOIP). � Excellent verbal and written communication skills. � Willing to travel up to 20%.
