Hi,
I am having problem in Solaris 9 SPARC.
Please help.
Problem:
"When I am login to System in graphical mode(Desktop),I am not able do anything(not able to logout, not able to start console terminal etc, even when I click on any Menu option, then nothing happen). Finally I have to do the warm boot(Shutdown system by pressing Power button).
Note that I am able to login in text mode(command line based).
"

When the system boots,it shows some messages stating no such file or directroy. The filenames are of type .so

Thank you.

Sounds like somebody deleted some shared libraries. Do a search for the library names and see if you can find out what package they are in. Try coping them from another Solaris box or reinstall the package.

You need to Tell The Details. What have you tried? Are you still getting the same error

Hi,

We are still getting the same error messages during system boot.
We are having only single Solaris system.Hence not able to copy the file from another system.
Also I searched on net for the same.Out of them, one suggested to create the file and do the test. But I still didn't tried.
Also previously few days back,we were able to do telnet from WinXp to solaris, but now we are not able to do that also.
It says:
Connecting To X.X.X.X...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed

Please suggest on this.

ThanK You.

And the error messages are. . . ?
Again, you need to Tell The Details.

We are having only single Solaris system. Hence not able to copy the file from another system.

But you CAN reinstall the packages that contain the missing files. Have you tried tracking down where the missing files originated from?

Also I searched on net for the same.Out of them, one suggested to create the file and do the test. But I still didn't tried.

You found a solution and didn't try it? Are you hoping the problem fixes itself? And what is "the file" and "the test". Again, you aren't giving us much to go on.

Also previously few days back,we were able to do telnet from WinXp to solaris, but now we are not able to do that also.
It says:
Connecting To X.X.X.X...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed

Is the telnet daemon (telnetd) running?
