Have you tried CentOS and Scientific Linux? any stories to share?
What is the pros and cons of each one?

I haven't used Scientific Linux. But all the servers are CentOS and have been for several years. They have run very reliably, and CentOS is pretty prompt at tracking new RHEL releases, so I have several useful growth options should anyone start paying me enough to justify buying technical support.

An IDE is no substitute for an Intelligent Developer.
