I am totally new to linux, can anyone let me know how to install java5 on rehat linux 9 , and how to work with
on linux like setting path and any other environment variables if necessary.

Red Hat Linux 9 has been unsupported for
now. You should upgrade to a supported distribution so you can get current with bug fixes and security updates.
