How about a forum on Is Java Dying? Or will it require too much effort to move all the thread here from the other groups as they pop up.

And when you try to post in it it automatically forwards you to Microsoft's web site.
And this was my 1500th post on JavaRanch!

Great Thomas!
To tell you the truth I am so tired of the "Java Dying" subject that I don't even want to point out to anyone that the topic has been discussion 42zillion times already.
How can we advertise "SEARCH" better?

Thomas, I've been wondering how I go about tracking the number of posts I've posted here at the ranch.
Are all posts from all forums counted? How many posts equals a ranch hand? Does 100 'Duh' posts in M.D. go towards your total?
Thanks for any info here,
Rick

Rick, you have 25 posts. The way to find this out is:
1) find one of your posts
2) locate the little icon next to the date/time stamp that looks like a face with a question mark
3) click on it
I think you need 35 posts to be a RanchHand. And yes every post is counted.

Thanks Thomas. I thought it would be in my profile, but when I access my profile from the link at the top of the page, it shows me everything but my number of posts.

Oh, I've only seen 41 zillion. Even so, I wouldn' mind if they had some place to go other than the forums I read.

I was thinking some type of FAQ might be useful for some of these lists. Certainly for the job discussion, you'd include:
Is Java Dying?
Java vs. C#
The merrits of certification

I generally get the impression most people don't take the time to do a quick search before posting.

Yeah but it can still be helpful. Then instead of having to restate what's already been said a zillion times or pointing them to a thread (which unless you've memorized it you'd have to look up), you could post the URL for the FAQ. Much easier if you ask me.

I agree. Here's the link: http://aspose.com/file-tools
