Have anybody got a change to test the new 1.67GHz Powerbook using Tiger and Java 5.0? The reason I am asking is if I should ask my employer for a Powerbook as my next laptop. When reading about the poor (?) Java performance on the G4�s I am in doubt if I should do the switch from Windows or not. I have also heard that there is a significant performance improvements in both Tiger and Java 5.0 compared to earlier versions. Can anyone confirm that?
I will mostly do server side Java development, but that can of course change in the future, using IntelliJ as my primary IDE.
I do plenty of Java development (web applications) on an iBook G3 and a PowerMac G4 and haven't felt hampered by "poor Java performance". If OS X is the platform you would perefer to work on, performance is perfectly adequate to the task.

I don�t know the release date for the next version of IntelliJ, but the EAP version (http://intellij.net/eap/) now runs on both the JRE 1.4 and 1.5. but it seems to be a lot of work remaining according the planned features�
