i need to have a popup page loaded with onload
event in the body tag. but that should happen only
according to a condition(a session variable) in the jsp file.
could u please help me in this regard.

Why don't you have the JSP code generate the client-side code that you want to call. That way, if the session variable indicates that the function shouldn't be called, just don't write the function.
