problem with onmouseout in NN7

I have a dropdown menu whose subsections change color onmouseover and change back
onmouseout. The problem I'm having is that they only change back sometimes.
Sometimes to get the menu to return to normal I have to mouse over the
subsection again before it performs its onmouseout function.
I put some alerts in my JavaScript, and it looks from that like the
onmouseout function is getting called while the mouse is still very much
over the subsections. (???)
I'm using Netscape 7, and wondering if this is a bug (because it seems too
inconsistent to be a coding error.. but you never know). Has anyone had a
similar problem? If so, how did you work around it?
Code is at bottom, for reference.
Thanks in advance!
