Wrap attribute in PRE

i want to wrap the text in pre tag...i m using tag as below;
<pre wrap="soft">....</pre>
Navigator 7.0 is wrapping text but IE 6 is not...is there any work around to warp text in IE6 in Pre tag
i tried different combinations of width and cols in pre tag but not working.

Solution is good but it is breaking words in IE. What should i do now?
