... to William Brogden, a "mere" Ranch Hand (yeah, right) who, in addition to writing several books you may have heard of , has managed to rack up over 1000 posts here at JavaRanch. Without even once participating in the "Word Association" thread in Meaningless Drivel. Bill also has been a mainstay at Marcus Green's certification site, www.jchq.net, for some time, amassing a sizeable collection of quality posts there as well. Great job, Bill! Thanks for your participation - it is much appreciated.
Thanks folks - this is a really great community and I am delighted to be a part of it! The whole Java community reminds me of how things were at the start of the microcomputer revolution (Z-80s, CP/M, etc) with people sharing knowledge and enthusiasm. Bill
Some time ago we discussed that our status system is far from perfect and decided that after the next software upgrade there will be Greenhorn, Ranch Hand and Bill Brogden status.
if (numberOfPosts < 30) status = "Greenhorn"; else if (numberOfPosts < 1000) status = "Ranch Hand"; else status = "Bill Brogden";
Kidding! 1000 posts is not enough, it has to be very high-quality 1000 posts. Not many people can get this status. Perhaps only one [This message has been edited by Mapraputa Is (edited June 19, 2001).]
Sorry Bill for congratulating you so late.But I have not been around for quite some time. I really appreciate your will to help others.I have received prompt replies for my queries from you particularly about "JSP tag library in Tomcat" which I have not been able to achieve yet. Din't these selfish "moderators and bartenders" offer you promotion?I think you must have refused it,isn't it? I would have certainly given up had they not offered me promotion.just kidding.
