in a pop-up i populate a set of values from the database.
these values look like links. now the user clicks on a link and this value should get populated in the parent window.

Now with help from from Eric Pascarello, I know how to populate the parent if it is of type:
form.[type].value

But how do I do this for a non-form object. Hope I was clear.

if a user searched for a number and a list of name and numbers come up, and the result look something like below. when the user clicks on the result the value of the number should be populated in the parent window.
